LIVE RADAR: Check to see when rain bands from Hurricane Helene lash Central Florida

Storm expected to strengthen into Category 4 hurricane before reaching state

ORLANDO, Fla. – Due to the size of Helene, outer bands from the hurricane will reach Central Florida on Wednesday, producing tropical downpours and bringing gusty winds to the region.

Helene is still expected to grow into a major Category 4 hurricane (130-156 mph wind speeds) as it makes landfall in the Big Bend of Florida, somewhere from Panama City to Cedar Key, on Thursday.
