ORLANDO, Fla. – Tropical Depression 12 has formed in the eastern Atlantic Ocean, moving slowly to the northwest as of the 5 p.m. Advisory issued by the National Hurricane Center.

On the forecast track, a west-to-northwest path will be taken as a subtropical ridge to the north steers the system over the next few days. Intensity will also grow during this time reaching tropical storm strength late Sunday into Monday and then continuing to strengthen to a Category 3 major hurricane by the end of the upcoming work week.

The ridge steering the system will begin to erode which will result in a more north to northwestward path by late week.
