‘Feels like’ temps ramp up in Central Florida; tropics heating up

Central Florida to face hot, humid weather; significant tropical activity expected

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida will experience sweltering weather Monday, with “feels like” temperatures hitting triple digits by Monday afternoon.

Rain chances remain relatively low at 30-40% for Monday but will increase through the work week (50-60%) as more moisture enters the region.

Tropics

In the tropics, multiple systems are being closely monitored: Hurricane Isaac, Tropical Depression Joyce and Tropical Depression 12. Behind these active systems, another potential area is being watched for development within the next seven days.

One system of particular interest, currently in the Caribbean, has a medium chance of development over the next week. Models vary widely, once it emerges in the Gulf of Mexico by midweek.

It still remains too early to say what impacts, if any, this system could bring to Central Florida. But this area is worth keeping close tabs on over the next several days.

Regardless of development, tropical moisture is forecast to build in through the end of the week and into the weekend, keeping overall rain chances highs with highs in the mid to upper 80s.
