ORLANDO, Fla. – The calendar might say Oct. 1, but local and tropical weather is looking a lot more like early September as plenty of tropical moisture surges in over the next several days.
A weakening stalled-out front over the area will fire up widespread (60-70%) rain and storms Tuesday afternoon and continue to usher in tropical moisture from the Gulf through the week.
The main hazards will be lightning, heavy downpours and gusty winds (40 mph). With some slower-moving storms, some areas will have the chance to rack up 1-3 inches through the evening.
Highs Tuesday afternoon remain warm in the low 90s with “feels like” temperatures in the triple digits.
Throughout the rest of the week, added rain and cloud cover from tropical moisture suspended over Central Florida, will keep temperatures below average in the mid-to-upper 80s with rain chances staying high at 50-70% into the weekend.
With back-to-back days of rain around, Central Florida could rack up between 2-5 inches of rainfall by early next week.
Tropics Watch
By the weekend and into early next week, models show an area in the Caribbean entering into the Gulf of Mexico.
Central Floridians should closely watch the progress of this area model guidance on its track and strength remains a bit uncertain.
Latest runs show stronger shear entering the Gulf at the same time, limiting significant development through the weekend.
Regardless of development, plenty of tropical moisture nearby will keep conditions unsettled for much of the Sunshine State through early next week.
