ORLANDO, Fla. – A tropical depression could form this week in the Atlantic near the Leeward Islands, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Invest 94L west of the Cabo Verde Islands has a 50% chance of development in the next seven days.
While it is currently moving through a dry environment with unfavorable conditions for development, the NHC said the area will move west toward warmer waters.
Gradual development is possible by the middle of the week or the end of the week, and a tropical depression could form as it moves near the Leeward Islands.
