Frost and freeze warnings issued for Central Florida. Here’s how long cold stretch will last

Orlando area braces for chilly mornings

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida is starting December on the chilly side as arctic air blasts through the region, bringing the coldest air of the season.

After a cold and frosty start Monday, expect dry weather with north winds around 10-15 mph, gusting up to 20-25 mph.

Afternoon highs will be cooler than usual, reaching the mid-60s to low 70s under mostly sunny skies.

From Tuesday to Wednesday, a major weather system will move across the Southeast U.S., pushing even more cold air into the area. This will keep things dry and below normal.

Temperatures for the next few nights will dip into the mid-30s to low 40s areawide, with a widespread chance for frost Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

Lows Tuesday Morning

Wind chills could make it feel like it’s in the low 30s to mid-40s.

Daytime highs will stay in the low 60s on Tuesday, warming slightly to the mid-60s to low 70s on Wednesday, with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies.

Freeze/frost potential

The combination of dry and breezy weather this week will also increase the risk of fire condition. Under these parameters, any little spark could start and spread a fire quickly.

From Thursday through Saturday, high pressure will settle overhead, which will bring milder conditions.

Winds will shift from the west to north-northeast by Friday. Expect afternoon highs to climb into the low to mid-70s as we head into the weekend and lows will be back in the 40s and 50s.

There’s a slight chance of showers Friday, especially along the Atlantic coast and north of I-4.
