ORLANDO, Fla. – It feels a lot like winter in Central Florida, with temperatures kicking off in the chilly 30s and 40s Sunday morning. If you’re heading out for some last-minute Christmas shopping, you’ll definitely want to bundle up.
An upper-level trough is contributing to a few showers offshore which might affect the coastal regions later Sunday evening. However, a high-pressure system is keeping much of the nation calm for now.
Sunday has a high of 69 in Orlando. It’s expected to be breezy with winds from the north-northeast at 10 to 15 mph, with occasional stronger gusts.
There’s a slim 20-30% chance of showers along the coast, affecting areas like Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach, Cocoa Beach and Melbourne. These showers are expected to be light, so nothing substantial is anticipated at this time.
Sunday night will be chilly, especially north and west of the I-4 corridor, but not as severe as today’s morning lows, staying in the upper 40s to lower 50s.
Monday is slightly warmer with a chance for a few showers and a high around 72 degrees.
Christmas Eve and Day outlook
As we look ahead to Christmas, the forecast is shaping up nicely. Christmas Eve should be sunny with a high nearing 75. On Christmas Day, there’s a 30% chance of isolated coastal showers, but inland areas are expected to remain dry with temperatures around 76.
