ORLANDO, Fla. – Milton officially made landfall near Siesta Key as a Category 3 hurricane on Wednesday evening, according to the National Hurricane Center.
There is an increasing threat for flash flooding, especially north of Milton’s center. That will likely put areas along and north of I-4 in the greatest risk for significant flooding.

6-12 inches of rain will be common with localized higher amounts.
The tornado threat will also be high, especially near and south of I-4. A few tornadoes could be strong given the ripe environment.
The strongest winds will focus close to Milton’s center initially after landfall and the quickly expand north as the storm moves through Central Florida.
The weather will gradually turn worse through Wednesday afternoon with the worst of the storm arriving late Wednesday afternoon and lingering through Thursday evening. The weather will significantly improve by Friday morning.
