BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – A tornado touched down and crossed Interstate 75 in South Florida as tornadic supercells from Hurricane Milton began to sweep the state, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The tornado crossed the interstate around 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service, in a lightly populated Everglades area of South Florida..

The National Hurricane Center said in its latest advisory that tornadic supercells from Hurricane Milton were beginning to sweep across southern Florida.
“Several tornadoes are likely today and tonight across parts of central and southern Florida,” the NHC said in its 11 a.m. update.
Milton has picked up forward speed and landfall could happen earlier sometime between 8 p.m. Wednesday to 1 a.m. Thursday near the Sarasota area.
