ORLANDO, Fla. – The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down in south Brevard County on Tuesday afternoon.

At 2:01 p.m. a confirmed tornado was located over Barefoot Bay moving north at 10 mph, according to the NWS.

The tornadic thunderstorm remained over mainly rural areas of southeastern Brevard County, officials said.

The warning, which was issued at 1:50 p.m., expired shortly after 2:15 p.m. and included Valkaria, Grant-Valkaria, Grant and Micco.

There were no immediate reports of direct damage from the tornado or the otherwise stormy weather, but wet highways and roads contributed to numerous traffic incidents, officials said. Nearly two inches of rain had fallen in Melbourne by 3 p.m. Tuesday, News 6 partner Florida Today reports.
Meanwhile, a wind advisory was issued in Volusia County, where storm damage was reported in Edgewater. During a heavy thunderstorm Tuesday morning, a roof was ripped off a mobile home on Las Palmas Drive, littering the yard with debris, according to Edgewater city officials.
No one was home at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported.
"Rain chances will remain high in the Orlando area for most of Tuesday and Wednesday," News 6 meteorologist Troy Bridges said. "Expect off and on showers and storms as a tropical wave moves through the region."
Some storms could have wind gusts greater than 40 mph.
"We could see up to 3 inches of rain before the day is done," Bridges said.
Expect a high of 88 degrees in Orlando on Tuesday, with an 80 percent coverage of showers and storms.
Rain chances will remain high through the end of the week.
There's a 70 percent chance of rain on Wednesday and a 60 percent chance for Thursday and Friday.
Afternoon high temperatures will stay in the upper 80s, which is near the average on this date in Orlando.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Ian will remain in the open Atlantic and not impact land.
