ORLANDO, Fla. – Christmas time means movie time in homes across America. From the black-and-white traditions like “It’s a Wonderful Life” to animated classics like “A Charlie Brown Christmas” to new standards like “Elf,” everyone who celebrates Christmas has a film that is close to their heart.
And for many Floridians, it appears that film may be “Home Alone.”

The 1990 film about a boy who is accidentally left home while his family goes on Christmas vacation was the most searched-for film on Google Trends among Floridians over the past three Christmases, according to a new analysis by Florida Bet.com.
Next on the list was “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” from 2000 starring Jim Carrey, followed by “The Polar Express” with Tom Hanks at No. 3.
“Elf,” which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, was the fourth most popular Christmas movie in Florida. The film stars Will Ferrell as a human who was raised by elves at the North Pole and goes to New York City to find his father.
In fifth place was “A Christmas Story,” the 1983 film about a young boy’s campaign for a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas.
