WINTER PARK, Fla. – Amsterdam, the city known for its canals, bikes and coffee shops, but Wilson Santos noticed something else, fries.
Santos first trip there was back in 1994. He said he found himself grabbing these Dutch-style cones of fries and walking around the city. They were so good he would eat them three to four times a day.

“Every time I travelled to Amsterdam; I went straight for the fries,” Santos said in a statement.
He noticed in the U.S. there is not a fast-food chain dedicated to this Dutch-style snack and he aims to change that.

The start is opening The Fry Shoppe in Winter Park on March 28. It will be at 489 N. Semoran Blvd. One of the reasons for opening this eatery here is how close it is to Full Sail University and other schools.
“I want to offer something that is different yet affordable and fast for the student population that surrounds us. Since moving to Orlando in 2012, I’ve always lived in the neighborhood and have kept an eye on this building,” Santos said.

The Fry Shoppe will serve the Dutch-style cone fries in two sizes regular or large. Each order can be customized as there are two options for fries (skin-on or crispy) and more than 10 different sauces and toppings. It will also offer a variety of loaded fries featuring meat toppings, according to a news release.
“They are the perfect blend between a snack and a full meal. They are unique and affordable. Someone can eat them every day and they will be different each time,” Santos said.
Santos said he has plans to expand The Fry Shoppe throughout Florida and beyond. He said he can see this brand opening in airports, malls, food halls and even as a food truck.
This restaurant will be open daily from 11 a.m. till 9 p.m. and will offer a pick-up window or drive-through option.
