THE VILLAGES, Fla. – A new Hooters restaurant is being planned for a shopping center in The Villages, according to Commercial Development Director Geno Jarquin.

In a social media post, Jarquin announced that Hooters signed a lease at Lake Deaton Plaza along State Road 44.

Jarquin added that the restaurant is being built from the ground up.

“HMC Hospitality Group is working on due diligence and permitting to build a 4,700-square-foot restaurant in our shopping center,” he wrote. “Excited to see how well they perform in our market.”

As described on the company’s website, Hooters got its start in Clearwater over 40 years ago, though it has since spread to hundreds of locations worldwide.

News 6 has reached out to Jarquin and The Villages Commercial Property for more details about the upcoming restaurant — including the expected timelines for construction and opening — and is awaiting a response.

No additional information has been provided at this time.
