ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando-based Italian restaurant chain Buca di Beppo has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, the company announced on Monday.

In a release, company officials said the chain is restructuring 44 of its remaining core locations, as well as planning to open a new one.

“The company is committed to ensuring that the restaurants operate as usual, and all gift cards, reservations, and promotional services currently remain active and redeemable,” the release reads.

According to USA Today, a petition by the company showed Buca di Beppo named 30 creditors to whom it owes nearly $50 million.

Buca di Beppo has reportedly been struggling financially — a trend common to other companies in the restaurant industry, such as Red Lobster and Perkins — since the COVID-19 pandemic, closing nearly 20% of its locations last month.

On Tuesday, only three Florida locations were listed on the company’s website. They are as follows:

  • 6282 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy. — Celebration, Kissimmee
  • 8001 S. Orange Blossom Trail — The Florida Mall, Orlando
  • 3355 S. University Drive — Davie
