Visitors to Florida’s popular grocery chain last month may have seen something unusual on the shelves: an assortment of yellow, green and white Publix-themed rubber ducks for sale.
The ducks were a big hit with many fans of the chain, and Publix officials told News 6 that they ended up selling out quickly in most stores across the state.

While the ducks cost around $3 each, online listings by resellers have them priced much higher, with some lots of all three ducks selling for over $30.
However, if you didn’t get a chance to buy one in stores for yourself, you might be out of luck.
Publix spokeswoman Hannah Herring explained that the ducks were a limited-time offering, and they’d been offered up in stores as a new addition for the holidays.

“Most folks found them to be the perfect stocking stuffer, so they went fast in most locations,” she explained.
But even if you didn’t nab a duck for yourself, that doesn’t mean all hope is lost. Herring hinted at possible future additions to the Publix rubber duck lineup.
“Customers may be able to find a store here and there that still has some in stock, but if they didn’t catch this release, they should keep an eye out — you never know when new designs might pop up,” she said.
