Trying to find time to work out and spend time with your kids can be difficult. One way to keep you and your child healthy while spending quality time together is to exercise with your child.

These exercises can be done by both parents and children.
Playground workout: Going to the playground with your child can be a workout for both of you. Pumping your legs on the swings, going across the monkey bars and climbing ladders can all be calorie burners.
Push-ups: Push-ups are great exercises for adults and children because they can be modified to their strength level. Push-ups can be done the standard way with toes and hands on the floor, or they can be done from the knees.
Jogging/Walking: When you go for a walk or a jog, take your child with you. You can exercise along nature paths or around lakes or the beach.
Biking: Biking is a great family exercise. Kids can take their tricycles or even bikes with training wheels while the older children and adults ride their own bikes.
Yoga: Yoga is a workout parents and kids can do together. You can follow a DVD or book of poses in your home or you can look for a class in your community aimed at both adults and children.
Dancing: Kids love to dance and it’s a great workout for parents. You don’t have to take a formal dance class with your child; you can just dance in your own home to the music of your choice, or even play a dancing video game. You can also try to do a Zumba workout DVD together.
Swimming: Most kids love playing in the pool. Swimming is a great exercise and even playing some games in the shallow end can be a great workout as your body moves against the resistance of the water.
Children’s games: Playing some kid-friendly games like tag can help both you and your child burn calories.
