COCOA, Fla. – One man is in critical condition and two others were injured Wednesday in a shooting in Brevard County, according to officials.
The shooting happened on Clearlake Road in Cocoa, but there was also a crime scene a few hundred yards away, where one of the shooting victims drove, authorities said.
Brevard County deputies said they were called to the TTC Tax Refund Business at 1:30 p.m. after a report of shots fired.
Three male victims were found on scene with gunshot wounds, according to deputies. Two of the men were taken to area hospitals and the third was released on scene. Their identities have not been released.
A woman told News 6 that her boss was shot inside a tax office, but authorities have not released any details, other than saying they are not actively looking for a shooter.
"The investigation into the circumstances of the event is still in the beginning stages, and more information will be given as the details become available," deputies said in a release.
Deputies added that they believed the shooting appeared to be isolated.
Authorities initially said three people had been shot, but later said two. A Wednesday afternoon release later said two were hospitalized and a third was also injured.
A man who works in the tax office, and says he's cousins with the owner, said he wrestled the gun away from the shooter.
"I had to keep the head of the gun away from me and my cousin," said James Anestor. "We were trying to get the gun away from his hand, so that's probably how he got shot."
