Workers forced from Metra Electronics facility

HOLLY HILL, Fla. – A woman was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of making a bomb threat to her Holly Hill place of business because she "needed a break" from work, according to police.

Letisha Vester, 33, of Daytona Beach, who works at Metra Electronics at 460 Walker St., was arrested on a felony charge of making a false report of a bomb.

The Metra Electronics plant was evacuated, and about 300 employees were taken on VOTRAN buses to Holly Hill City Hall and The Market, where refreshments were provided in an air-conditioned environment, police said.

Holly Hill police said Vester left a phone message with the human resources department around 4:30 a.m., saying a bomb had been placed on company property.  The threat was received by a Metra Electronics HR employee about 9 a.m.

K-9s searched the facility and employees were allowed to re-enter around 12:15 p.m.

Holly Hill police investigators traced the threat phone call to Vester, who works in the paint department, officials said.  She was at work when the threat was received, and she was forced from the building with her co-workers, police said.

Vester's cellphone and employee identification badge were located at Holly Hill City Hall after she tried to discard them before being interviewed with detectives, police said.

Vester told detectives that she called in the bomb threat because she "needed a break" from work.
Holly Hill police said Vester was also wanted on an out-of-county arrest warrant for felony larceny.
