Report: 'I-4 eyesore' building nears completion

Developers say Majesty building will continue construction after a decade

ORLANDO, Fla. – The notoriously unfinished building off of Interstate 4, nicknamed the "I-4 eyesore," will finally be finished in just over a year, developers told the Orlando Sentinel.

The building, officially called the Majesty building, was supposed to be completed in August 2000, but economic troubles delayed the construction over and over again.

Developer and Christian broadcaster Claud Bowers told the Sentinel money is flowing again and now the 18-story, 100,000 square foot building will be finished quickly.

Despite the new deadline, Local 6 crews didn't find any construction workers or equipment on scene.

Residents who pass the building every day say they're not convinced the construction will be finished.

"I think it's a big joke," said Ronald Klair. "There's just so much that needs to be done to that building. I don't see how they could do it in 14 months."

Kevin Brown, who works nearby, shared the same sentiments about the "I-4 eyesore."

"A lot of people make promises doesn't mean they'll come true," Brown said.
