13 injured in crash involving Lynx bus in Orlando

SUV rear-ends bus, pregnant woman hurt, FHP says

ORLANDO, Fla. – A sport utility vehicle crashed into a Lynx bus Friday morning in Orlando, injuring 13 people, including two pregnant women, according to authorities.

The crash happened around 8:40 a.m. on Princeton Street at Mercy Drive when the SUV crashed into the back of the bus, which was stopped at a bus stop.

FHP spokesperson Kim Montes said two people were injured in the SUV and 11 were injured on the bus, including the driver. A pregnant woman in the SUV was taken to Winnie Palmer Hospital and another passenger said a woman on the bus was pregnant and was also taken to the hospital.

The driver of the SUV, Shane Barton, 36, was ticketed for careless driving. He was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

The driver of the bus, David Diaz, 48, was taken to Health Central Hospital with minor injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol will investigate the crash.
