ORLANDO, Fla. – A car was launched nearly 20 feet into the air after plowing into a cement post outside Orlando International Airport.
According to police, a driver early Monday sped through a gate travelers use to park. The collision sent the car airborne before it slammed into the overhang.
The driver survived the crash, and police said he ran from the crumpled car and was later found hiding in the second floor of a parking garage.
Investigators say the surveillance camera near the gate was not recording at the time of the crash, but they hope to find other video of the collision.
The driver faces charges of fleeing the scene of an accident.
