Gator lurks in Florida storm drain

Wildlife officers working on plan to remove 9-foot alligator

SARASOTA, Fla. – Repeated hissing coming from a Sarasota storm drain turned out to be an alligator lurking underground.

Families in the Sarasota neighborhood called maintenance workers about the noise on Wednesday. When crews looked into the storm drain, they discovered a 9-foot alligator.

Neighbors say the alligator moved to the storm drain on the opposite side of the road.

Florida Fish & Wildlife officers are working on a plan to remove the gator from the storm drain as early as Friday.
