Driver rams Orlando toll booth, steals money

Construction vehicle may have been used in burglary

ORLANDO, Fla. – A large vehicle -- possibly a construction truck -- was used to deliberately ram an Orlando toll booth, which was burglarized late Sunday night, police said.

The smash-and-grab happened just before midnight at the "exact change" toll booth at the Boggy Creek Road exit of State Road 417.

According to Orlando police, the thief took the toll booth door and attached bill changer and fled the scene.  Police did not reveal how much money was stolen.

The toll booth sustained an estimated $100,000 in damage, according to an Orlando police report, citing Central Florida GreeneWay Expressway Authority manager Kathleen Gronbach.

Police also said the thief covered a surveillance camera with a light blue rubber glove.
