Shots fired outside Orlando pizza shop

Woman taken to hospital after suffering panic attack, police say

ORLANDO, Fla. – Shots were fired outside an Orlando pizza restaurant, causing a woman to have a panic attack, according to police.

The bullet also cracked the glass of a window at the Morgan & Morgan law offices on the 14th floor of the Wells Fargo building.

"Yeah somebody was taking shots at us from the ground!" said Matt Morgan, jokingly. "I'm just thankful. We are so fortunate and blessed that no one was severely hurt or injured as a result of this. But think about if someone was sitting by that window the conversation we could be having right now."

Morgan said several people were in the office staffing the 24-hour call center.

"We had members of the team on the job when shots came through the window," said Morgan. "It's beyond terrifying to be working and a bullet comes through the window and you're on the 14th floor."'

The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday outside Planet Pizza near the intersection of Washington Street and Orange Avenue in downtown Orlando.

According to Orlando police, no one was struck in the shooting, but a woman was taken to a hospital after suffering a panic attack.

It's not known what prompted the shooting.

Police said the gunman was last seen driving away in a dark-colored sedan.

Police said cameras captured a Honda leaving the scene but they don't know if that car is related.

Morgan said he'd like to see more security in Downtown Orlando, specifically more officers during the hours of 11 p.m.to 5 a.m.

"Ultimately the whole question is if it foreseeable that someone can take out a gun and start shooting in downtown," said Morgan. "We know know it is foreseeable. Because it's foreseeable, business owners, OPD and the city have to take precautions to make sure that people aren't hurt."

Local 6 asked Orlando Police about Morgan's suggestion to add more officers. As of Tuesday afternoon, OPD had not responded to email requests for comment.

Some people who visit downtown Orlando for the night life said they feel safe.

"I've never felt threatened, but apparently it happens," said Patrick Macchone. "Do you see enough officers? Yeah, they're always available if you need them."
