Man shoots, kills brother thinking he was burglarizing home

Teen comes into home while couple slept

ORLANDO, Fla. – A man shoots and kills his teenage brother after he entered their home while the man and his wife slept.

Orange County Sheriff's Department said they responded to a call Friday night on High Lake Drive in Orlando.

Deputies found a 32-year-old man who said that he and his wife were sleeping when they heard a noise in the kitchen.

The husband took his handgun and walked in the kitchen area, where he shot the victim.

After the shooting the husband recognized the victim as his younger teenage brother. He immediately started CPR while his wife contacted 911, deputies said.

Orange County Fire Department transported the victim to Florida South Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide detectives and the family's pastor identified the victim as Leonard Stay. Ocoee Knights Wrestling confirmed that Stay was on its team.

"Bro. Leonard Stay was a loving teen who lived life to the fullest," Pastor Stanley Murray said in a statement. "He was an incoming senior student of Ocoee High School with high aspersions of being a school wrestling team member. He was an active member of the Mt. Zion Tabernacle Christian Church performing servant duties as an usher, mime dance coordinator and teen mentor. Leonard was loved without reproach by his family and friends."
