Mix 105.1 personality battled cancer for 7 years

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando radio host Scott McKenzie died Tuesday after a long battle with cancer.

McKenzie, who hosted the morning show on Mix 105.1, was 59 years old.

"We are sad to report the passing of our beloved Scott McKenzie," the radio station posted on its website.  "He passed away this morning (August 11, 2015)."

McKenzie was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma seven years ago.  He said on Friday that he was talking with hospice care officials.

McKenzie worked at the station for 24 years, teaming up with Erica Lee for many years and more recently with Dana Taylor and Jay Edwards.

The station said it will air a special tribute show to McKenzie on Wednesday morning.

McKenzie was born in Columbus, Ohio, where he worked before moving to Orlando in 1991.
