ORLANDO, Fla. – Ashley Thomas can't help but get emotional as she talks about her sister, Master Sergeant Debra Clayton. The Orlando Police Officer was shot and killed on Monday. Thomas said she couldn't believe it.
"I'm still kind of in shock that it happened," Thomas said. "I just wish it was bad dream and it would go away."
A memorial now sits at the Walmart where the shooting took place, and it continues to grow. Many have stopped by to drop off flowers and candles.
Harold Ivory, Clayton's cousin, also paid a visit. He was with her just a few hours before tragedy struck.
"She took me home from work Monday morning, right before she got killed, and we were talking about life and all of these murders going on," he said. "She was saying, like, if anything happened to her, cry for her, because, you know, this is her job, and I was like, 'I will always cry for you, because I love you.'"
Thomas said the whole family is saddened by her passing, but he knows that her legacy of kindness and compassion will live on.
"I just want everyone to know that she was the greatest sister ever, and I wish I could tell her that," Thomas said.
