VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Ormond Beach police say they are investigating a suspicious death Monday after a woman's body was found near the side of the road.
The woman was found dead near the intersection on Bennett Lane at 8:57 a.m., according to officials with the Ormond Beach Police Department.
"A (Spectrum) work truck was driving down Bennett Lane, the 100 block. They saw somebody laying on the side of the road, just off the street," Ormond Beach police Officer Keith Walker said.
A man who called 911 said he could see the woman's fingertips were blue. He said she was wearing a short-sleeved shirt, black leggings and black slip-on tennis shoes.
Police have not identified the victim, but said her body may have been left in the area. Foul play is suspected, police said.
"If we can identify who it is, then we can move along and find out where were they supposed to be, where were they last seen, do they have any medical conditions," Walker said.
No other details were immediately available.
Anyone with information about the woman's death is asked to contact the Ormond Beach Police Department's Criminal Investigative Unit by email at Apryl.Andrasco@ormondbeach.org or by phone by calling 386-676-3514. To remain anonymous, contact Crimestoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS.
