PALM BAY, Fla. – Palm Bay police are investigating a shooting in a northwest neighborhood home.
It was not immediately known what led to the incident, but police labeled the death "suspicious." Police have not named the victim.
The incident was reported about 1:50 p.m. Thursday at a home on Furth Street, just east of Jupiter Boulevard. Several police vehicles lined the narrow curve of the street as residents stood outside to watch officers block off a home with crime scene tape.
Several crime scene investigators were at the site, as well. The area remained blocked off throughout the afternoon, reports News 6 partner Florida Today.
Richard Bauchiero said he came home Thursday afternoon to see police blocking off his street.
He returned home about 3:10 p.m. to find "police cars all over, like there is now. Nobody knows nothing because they aren't saying nothing," Bauchiero said. "The lady across the street from the house, she was talking to me and said she overheard that some guy got killed, and don't know anything else about it."
Bauchiero said that an older man lives at the home. He also said that he's lived on Furth Street for about 20 years and has never seen a crime like this take place nearby.
"Go by it, you see them outside. You wave, they wave back and that's all I ever deal with them," Bauchiero said. "I'd like to know what's going on because it's getting kind of close to home here. Five houses down."
An investigation is ongoing. This story will be updated.
