Man, woman found dead in Fruitland Park home ID'd

Eric Franklin Sims Jr., Courtney Lynn Holloway found dead, police say

FRUITLAND PARK, Fla. – A man and a woman were found dead late Sunday in a Fruitland Park home in an apparent murder-suicide, police said.

Fruitland Park police said Eric Franklin Sims Jr., 29, and Courtney Lynn Holloway, 28, died in the shooting, which was reported at 10:06 a.m. on Phoenix Avenue near Palm Street.

Police said a neighbor heard gunshots and called authorities.

Officers arrived and found Sims and Holloway suffering from gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police said the couple had six children together. Holloway also had a daughter from another relationship, according to police. All of the children, who were found unharmed at a neighbor's home, have been placed with family members, police said. Some children were in the home when the shooting happened, according to authorities.

Fruitland Park Police Chief Erik Luce said his agency did not have a history of being called to the home.

"They have a lot of family in the area. It's just a sad scene. Nobody was expecting this. As usual, it was a surprise," Luce said.

No other details have been released.
