Man says masked intruders shot his son during Cocoa home invasion

Victim airlifted to hospital, expected to survive

COCOA, Fla. – A man said three masked intruders put a gun to his head and shot his 19-year-old son in the stomach during a home invasion early Monday in Cocoa.

Cocoa police said the home invasion occurred around 1 a.m. at the Arlington Apartments at 1300 Jackson Ave.

The homeowner said he heard a knock at the door before several people forced their way into the home, according to police. Police said during the confrontation, several shots were fired, with one hitting the victim.

The victim was airlifted to a hospital, but he's expected to survive, police said.

A search is underway for the assailants, but a description of them has not been released.
