Man's body dumped in Rockledge neighborhood, detectives say

Sheriff's Office investigating man's death as suspicious

A man's body was left along a residential road in Rockledge and discovered Thursday morning, detectives with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office said.

A citizen found the man's body lying along Sharon Lane, according to the Sheriff's Office. Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives said they believe the man died at another location and his body was brought to Sharon Lane.

"It appears that his death occurred somewhere else and he was brought to that area and placed on the side of the road," said Tod Goodyear, the public information officer for the Sheriff's Office.

Homicide agents, crime scene investigators and the Sheriff's Office dive team canvassed the area for additional evidence Thursday morning.

Goodyear said the death is considered suspicious and the investigation is ongoing.

Officials declined to release the name of the victim until his family has been notified.

Multiple neighbors suspected that the man was not from the neighborhood.

"We were thinking that it didn't happen here and that somebody just decided to drop the body here," Andrea Tyson said.

Another neighbor, Amanda Gustafik, said neighbors talked among themselves and determined no one was missing.

"We're hoping that someone didn't just decide to dump a crime in our backyard," Gustafik said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Agent Wendy Wheeler at 321-633-8413 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
