FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – A man is locked up in the Flagler County jail after deputies say he robbed an elderly man and later tried to run over a guest at a motel, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies arrested Christopher Holmes, 41, Thursday at an Econolodge on Kingswood Drive in Palm Coast.

Investigators said they first received a call of a robbery and a silver sedan blocking traffic at intersections near the motel.
The city’s traffic cameras caught the robbery on video, according to deputies. The video shows a man get out of his car while stopped at a traffic light and open the passenger’s side door of the car next to him.
According to investigators, the person in the other car, an elderly man, was in fear for his life as Holmes stole the victim’s cellphone and cigarettes.
Later, at the Econolodge, deputies said Holmes was seen throwing a trashcan lid at a guest’s Chevrolet Avalanche, breaking the vehicle’s mirror. Holmes then threatened that victim before getting back in the silver sedan and trying to run them over, according to deputies, who said another guest recorded the attack on their cellphone.
Deputies tracked down Holmes, who appeared to be under the influence, according to a news release, and arrested him.
“This was an incredibly dangerous sequence of events and we’re lucky no one was seriously injured,” Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly said in a news release. “It is evident that this man was high on some type of narcotic and his actions could have proved deadly. Between the community calling in the suspicious activity and our deputies working swiftly, this man is now in the Green Roof Inn where he belongs and cannot harm anyone.”
Holmes is being held without bond on charges of robbery, burglary of an occupied conveyance, abuse of an elderly person, aggravated assault, criminal mischief and breach of the peace.
