After such a cold start on Wednesday, the sunshine helped a chilly day feel better. We spent most of Wednesday with temps in the 50s.
On Thursday, expect an increase in cloud cover and rain chances as high-pressure shifts eastward across the southeast U.S., causing local winds to veer.
Wednesday night’s north winds will transition to onshore by morning and further veer south-southwest in the afternoon, bringing back moisture.
In the afternoon, isolated-to-scattered showers are likely, particularly focused from Melbourne/Lake Kissimmee southward, with rain chances 20% to 30%.
Northern areas along and north of the I-4 corridor can expect chilly temperatures in the low to mid-40s on Wednesday night, possibly dropping to the upper 30s in far northern Lake and northwest Volusia near Lake George.
To the south of I-4, temperatures will be warmer, ranging from the upper 40s to mid-50s.
Coastal temperatures, driven by onshore flow, will increase overnight, reaching the 50s around midnight. Thursday will be significantly warmer, with highs mostly in the 70s.
A strong cold front is expected to move southward across the region on Friday, with models differing on rain chances.
I’m leaving rain chances at 20% for now... but might bump them up to 30% later.
Temperatures on Friday will be seasonable to slightly above normal due to southerly flow, reaching the low to mid-70s in the afternoon. The cold front will drop those temps when it passes through late Friday.
