FORT MYERS, Fla. – A SWAT sniper shot and killed a man who was holding a knife to the throat of a woman during a bank robbery in Fort Myers, NBC-2.com reported.
The fatal shooting happened Tuesday at a Bank of America in south Fort Myers.
According to NBC2, a witness said a young man jumped over a counter and said he had a bomb.
Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies and the FBI were called to the bank, where the man held two hostages, officials said.
Deputies said the altercation became physical and the man held a knife to a woman’s throat, prompting the SWAT team member to fatally shoot him.
The hostages were not injured.
