Woman dies after ‘erratic behavior,’ fighting with Orange County deputy

Incident happened at the 11100 block of Crystal Glen Blvd.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A woman died early Tuesday morning after fighting with an Orange County deputy in a local neighborhood, according to the sheriff’s office.

In a release, deputies said they responded to the 11100 block of Crystal Glen Blvd. around 3 a.m. after receiving a call about the woman knocking on doors and “displaying erratic behavior in the area.”

Upon arrival, a deputy heard the sound of glass breaking, which turned out to be the woman throwing a large paver stone through the window of a nearby home, the release shows.

The deputy made contact with the woman, who began fighting the deputy, investigators explained.

Backup deputies responded to the scene and helped secure the woman, who “became unresponsive,” according to the release.

Deputies said the woman was taken to the hospital, where she was declared dead.

Now, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the woman’s death and is expected to turn over its findings to the State Attorney’s Office. Afterward, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office will perform its own internal investigation, detectives announced.

The deputies involved in this case have been placed on temporary, paid administrative leave.

No additional information has been provided at this time, including the woman’s identity or cause of death.
