SANFORD, Fla. – A former student at a Sanford high school is accused of pointing a gun at students while he was there to pickup his girlfriend, according to a news release.
Police said on Monday around 9 a.m. a school resource officer at Elevation High School was notified that former student – identified as 17-year-old Kailon Young – pointed a gun at three students who were standing outside the school in the parking area. Young is also accused of making a threatening comment to the students.

According to the release, a preliminary investigation shows that Young’s girlfriend had a recent dispute with one of the other students.

Police said that Young was located on Tuesday where he was taken to the Seminole County Juvenile Assessment Center.
He faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without Intent to kill and possessing or discharging weapons or firearms at a school-sponsored event or on school property.
“Our immediate concern is for the safety of the students and staff. The suspect’s actions were both reckless and dangerous and we will not tolerate this kind of behavior,” Sanford police chief Cecil Smith said.
