DeBARY, Fla. – A DeBary woman has died after she was found unresponsive in a community pool, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency crews were called to 115 Integra Reserve Lane at the Integra 289 Exchange apartment complex around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.

According to a news release, a witness on a nearby apartment balcony spotted what appeared to be a person floating in a pool. When he went to investigate, he pulled the victim out of the water and performed CPR until crews arrived.

The victim — Joanne Poole — regained a pulse and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. She later died Thursday afternoon, the release states.

Detectives obtained video surveillance showing the victim struggling after entering the water alone.

The sheriff’s office said there were no suspicious circumstances and the official cause of death is pending completion of an autopsy.
