According to FWC officials, Rodriges’ body was discovered in Lake Washington around around 5:30 p.m. after a search-and-rescue operation began Saturday.

Officials said Rodriges and a woman were on a “homemade airboat” traveling south on the St. Johns River into Lake Washington when the woman operating the boat turned and noticed the man was no longer on the boat.

According to a FWC incident form, the woman turned the boat around in an attempt to locate the man who was not wearing a life vest.

Officials said after the woman was unable to locate the man, she called 911 to report the incident.

According to the FWC, drones and agency vessels equipped with side-scan sonar were used in the search.

“The FWC would like to extend its sincere condolences to the family during this time. This incident remains an active investigation,” the agency Monday said in a statement.

The investigation is ongoing, officials said.
