‘Healthy and in good spirits:’ 83-year-old man who missed Orlando flight located

Patrick A. Bailey hasn’t been heard from since Monday

Patrick A. Bailey, 83 (Orlando Police Department)

The 83-year-old man who was reported missing after being unable to make his flight out of Orlando due in part to the worldwide CrowdStrike outage has been located, according to family members.

The family of Patrick A. Bailey told News 6 on Sunday, “We are happy to announce that, our father, Patrick Bailey, of Crescent City, California has been located!”

Patrick Bailey II told News 6 that investigators interviewed staff at an Orlando bus station who were able to identify his father. He also said that they were able to positively identify him at several stops across the country.

“So we know he is on a bus, heading to Oregon near where he lives in Northern California,” Patrick Bailey II said.

A few hours later, family members said that Bailey decided to return home by bus without realizing anyone would be worried about his whereabouts.

“He is healthy and in good spirits,” the family told News 6.

Family members did not say where Bailey was located.

Patrick A. Bailey checked in for his flight Sunday at Orlando International Airport, yet “lingering results” from the global technology disruption prevented him from flying home, the Orlando Police Department said on social media.

Bailey spent the night at a local hotel, checked out Monday morning and hasn’t been heard from since, the post states. The man’s family said they tracked his cell phone he left in the lobby of the Doubletree hotel near the Orlando International Airport.

Family members said there is a BOLO for the 83-year-old man in Grants Pass Oregon, but did not say if that is where the bus is heading or where that information originated from.

Orlando police shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Bailey took a Greyhound bus across the country.

“After not being able to make his flight out of OIA, he decided to take a Greyhound bus across country and return home. Bailey was unaware he left his phone at his hotel in Orlando until he was on the bus.”
