Detectives seek to ID suspected wallet snatcher in Marion County (Marion County Sheriff's Office)

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Detectives with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office are asking the public for help to identify a woman accused of stealing a wallet on Monday at a Walmart near Ocala.

The theft occurred before noon Monday at the Walmart along Bahia Avenue, the sheriff’s office said on social media.

The woman — pictured at the top of this story, along with the vehicle she was driving — allegedly followed the victim around the produce section and waited for her to become distracted before stealing a Louis Vuitton wallet from out of the victim’s purse, the post states.

The victim told investigators that she then followed the woman to the exit, noting a wallet-shaped bulge in the suspect’s shirt, according to the sheriff’s office.

When the victim confronted the woman, the suspect ran out of the store and drove away in a black Hyundai SUV; though detectives have since identified the man registered as the vehicle’s owner, the woman suspected of stealing the wallet has still not been identified, the sheriff’s office said.

Anyone who recognizes the woman is urged to contact the sheriff’s office at 352-732-9111, or Crime Stoppers of Marion County at 352-368-7867.
