Early voting sees huge jump this year in Central Florida ahead of Election Day

Early voting numbers triple compared to 2022

With just 13 days left until Election Day, long lines at early voting locations — like the Alafaya Branch Library — are already forming, stretching out into parking lots as voters take advantage of early voting opportunities.

Bob Jones, an early voter in Orange County, explained why he is casting his ballot early.

“Because of all we are facing. We are facing corruption from the top to the bottom, and it can only get worse,” Jones said.

Many voters said they chose to vote early to avoid potential issues on Election Day.

“It’s vital that we vote today because we stop freaking out. Maybe our vote will be late or we won’t get off work in time,” said Marcia Hurlbutt, a voter in line.

Lisa Lewis, Volusia County’s Supervisor of Elections, said the county is seeing a record average of 11,000 early votes cast daily.

“People are turning out to vote this year. Number one, it’s a presidential year, and there are some controversial amendments on the ballot, so that’s bringing people out,” Lewis said.

In 2022′s general election, there had already been 87,650 early voting ballots cast by Day 3 in Central Florida. This year, that number has more than tripled to nearly 290,000.
