Nanny cam captures basement boiler explosion

Mother watched footage from work

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A mother in Washington State watched the unthinkable happen on her nanny camera while at work.

A boiler in their basement since the 1960s blew up Friday sending debris shooting through the wall right in the area where the children play.

A camera rolling in a different room recorded the grand piano shaking. Moments later, the nanny is seen running to save the little baby sleeping in her room.

"She ran straight back in here, not knowing what was in here, grabbed Lily and went outside," Mother Anne-Marie Faiola explained.

Faiola says fortunately her son had gone to work with his father that day, something she believes, saved his life.

"When you think about the what-ifs, of course you get emotional" Faiola said, "But I really need to focus on the positive, which is hey, the house is cracked in half, totally fine. We can fix that."
