ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – An Orange County deputy who suffered injuries when investigators say a 15-year-old ran her down is speaking about the incident.
Orange County sheriff's Sgt. Marcy Pearce was hurt in the incident, which happened on High Street near Roush Avenue in east Orange County, officials said.
The 15-year-old, identified by Sheriff Jerry Demings as Jancarlos Ortiz, fled in a white Honda hatchback with black rims and remains on the loose, deputies said.
"I have a fractured left foot, I have four stitches on my eye over here and I've got quite a bit of swelling around my eye and into my head," Pearce said. "Both hands or knuckles are all swollen, and my right wrist is bruised. And right around the thumb -- the meaty portion of my thumb is hurting."
Pearce said she is out of the hospital and recovering at home.
Demings said Ortiz was previously arrested on charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement official, fleeing, armed burglary, grand theft and trespassing.
