SUV crashes into Orange County home, displaces family of 5

SUV slams into home, goes all the way through

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – An east Orange County family of five is without a home after a driver crashed into it around 7 p.m. Sunday.

The only person who was injured in the incident was the driver, who was the only person inside the SUV at the time of the crash. According to neighbors, she was driving too fast around a bend when she lost control and slammed into the home.

"It sounded like an explosion, but it was a car going into the house," neighbor Christian Portes said.

"I heard something like, 'Boom,' and when I come in, I saw a car inside my house," said Laila Basquez. "I saw the lady inside the car screaming, and then I started crying."

The driver, Cynthia Antonetty, 41, slammed into the house with so much force that the SUV went all the way through it before coming to a stop.

Antonetty lives next door to the victims and said she was driving less than a block when she lost control.

"I'm so sorry. They know me. I've been here for a year and a half. I'm not going to do anything to hurt them or crash their house," said Antonetty, adding she was the only person inside the SUV when it crashed -- and was driving the speed limit.

Next-door neighbors said they felt their houses shake.

"I was cleaning my bathroom and everything with my wife and boom, everything was moving in the house," one neighbor said.

Police are now looking into what led to the crash, but neighbors said they often see vehicles traveling way too fast in the area.

Now, many people who live in the community want to get results on a recently started petition and have speed bumps installed and signs added.

"It's quite dangerous here because we have a lot of kids here and a lot of cars go too fast," said resident Gregory Sabsook.

The Red Cross is helping out the five people who lived in the home with a place to stay until they find something permanent.

Deputies said Antonetty will be cited for the crash.
