This is what you can expect when getting tested for melanoma -- and what comes after

Getting your skin checked regularly is so important, especially living in sunny Central Florida.

Should a dermatologist detect melanoma, you can expect to get a simple, local anesthesia, in-office procedure of an excision. Simply put, you will have a portion of the skin cut out and then you may expect to receive a few stitches.

The tissue is then sent to a pathologist to check the margins.

Watch the video above to find out what you can expect once the results are provided.
