"Charge on! Go Knights! Charge on!" said Scott Lampros, a Knights fan.

Though the news of heading to the Fiesta Bowl brought excitement to fans, the team was hoping for a shot at the College Football Playoffs this year, especially after a second undefeated season.

"Obviously, it's an opportunity we cherish and it's another practice, but, obviously, we'd like to be somewhere else. But, we're excited,” said Wyatt Miller, Knights offensive tackle.

UCF Athletics Director Danny White expressed his thoughts over the disappointment and controversy surrounding the playoff system.

"The judges and panels of judges, that’s for a beauty contest. This is a sport. These kids, they deserve the opportunity to settle it in true competition.” White said.

Despite the snub, several UCF fans were camped outside the box office early Monday for the hottest ticket in town.

The Fiesta Bowl takes place in Arizona and student tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
