The area of low pressure east of the Bahamas is not expected to develop as it meets up with a cold front and gets torn apart. Another, new area has been highlighted by the National Hurricane Center as an area to watch for possible tropical development over the next five days. The National Hurricane Center currently gives this entity a 50 percent chance for development over the next 5 days. Climatologically speaking, this is the main area we watch for tropical development in June. Tune into News 6 on June 1, the official start of hurricane season, for a full day of storm-prep coverage.

Subtropical storms are not as defined as tropical storms, with its strongest winds located some distance from it's loosely formed center. They are also not a strong as tropical storms. ORLANDO, Fla. – A former Orlando college student who moved back to his home in the Bahamas in August said Saturday that he's thankful to be OK after Hurricane Dorian. "I'm just grateful that I have somewhere to stay and I'm alive," Sidney McIntosh said. McIntosh told News 6 what he experienced Monday afternoon as Hurricane Dorian sat over the Bahamas and water came rushing inside his house. Once he made it to the shelter, McIntosh said that building became damaged, as well. Several organizations in central Florida, including the American Red Cross, are collecting donations for Hurricane Dorian victims in the Bahamas.

ORLANDO, Fla. – A weather system near the Bahamas is affecting Central Florida's weather, bringing lower rain chances to the region. The National Hurricane Center gives the system a 30 percent chance or further development into the next five days. Computer models bring it into the Gulf and near the Texas coast with in the next seven days. High temperatures will be in the low 90s in the Orlando area for the end of the week and the weekend. "A separate area of low pressure near the Cape Verde Islands has an 80 percent chance of development within the next five days," Bridges said.
