The Seminole County school superintendent is urging parents to talk to their kids after two students at two different high schools were arrested Thursday, accused of having firearms on the campuses.

Lake Brantley High School was put on a Code Red because of a tip about a possible threat, according to Seminole County Public Schools.

Around 8:30 a.m., the school initiated a Code Red lockdown, which was later downgraded to a Code Yellow before being completely lifted, according to Seminole County Public Schools.

Officials say a student holding a musical instrument as if it were a weapon prompted an alert that resulted in a Code Red at an Oviedo school.

Students playing with a toy gun near the campuses of Forest City Elementary and Lake Brantley High schools caused a scare as both schools were placed on a Code Red lockdown, officials said.

Students with a water gun forced officials at Winter Springs High School to put the school on a brief Code Red on Monday afternoon, according to a news release.

They went into Lake Mary High School’s auditorium and told one of the students that they were there for a “bounty,” investigators explained.

Lake Mary High School has been placed on a lockdown.
