The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission first got word of the missing boater on Wednesday afternoon. The FWC and Seminole County Sheriff’s Office had several boats search the water for the man and later extended its search with helicopters. Search found the man’s body around 7 a.m. Sunday. The man’s name has not yet been released.

Kieffer said that he and another person on the boat work as paramedics for the City of Tavares Fire Department. “Unfortunately, since we were so shallow, he was able to push off the bottom and launch himself into the boat and that’s where he got a hold of my arm,” Kieffer said. Kieffer said doctors believe they can save his arm as he’s regained feeling in his fingers.
